FLOWBOND is a premium bonding agent for cement. FLOWBOND binds through the cement matrix to give much improved strength, flexibility and adhesion.

USES:

* Cement Rendering and Plastering.
* Floor Toppings
* Bonding Ceramic Tiles
* Patching cracked and broken concrete.

FEATURES:

Provides a key on existing surfaces - which enables these surfaces to be cement rendered or plastered. Assists in complete hydration of cement. When used as an admixture, by preventing excessive water evaporation, so, except in extremely dry conditions, eliminates wetting down. Also helps prevent cracking in cement renders or toppings. Allows "feather edging" of toppings. Gives mortars greater bond strength, when used as an admixture for laying ceramic quarry tiles.

APPLICATION PROPERTIES:

BASE: Synthetic Resin Dispersion
COLOUR: White emulsion - dries clear
VISCOSITY: 200 - 500 CPS
SOLIDS CONTENT: 49 - 51%
SPECIFIC GRAVITY: 1.10 pH: 3 - 5
SHELF LIFE: 12 months.
FLASH POINT: Non-flammable
TAXITY: Non-toxic
NOTE: When used over ferrous metals a 1% strong ammonia solution should be first added to FLOWBOND to give a pH of greater than 7 to prevent corrosion.

CEMENT RENDERING AND PLASTERING:

Coat the surfaces to be rendered with FLOWBOND diluted with an equal part of water and allow to dry to a clear film (10-20 minutes) then render in the usual way. For exterior render, FLOWBOND offers the advantage previously mentioned under "Features" and it is recommended that diluted FLOWBOND be admixed with the cement before application as per the following typical formulation: 3 - 4 parts sand and 1 part cement. Mix to desired consistency with one part FLOWBOND diluted with 4 - 5 parts water.

With FLOWBOND modified plasters, smoothing should be carried out with a trowel wetted with FLOWBOND/ water mixture otherwise the plastic content of the render will be reduced with the subsequent loss of the benefits resulting from its uses.

FLOWBOND/CEMENT JOINTLESS FLOORS:

FLOWBOND enables toppings to be applied to old cement floors without sparrow picking, an operation which costs considerably more than the FLOWBOND treatment. The recommended procedure for topping floors is as follows:-

Thoroughly clean the surface of the existing floor and remove all oil and grease with a heavy duty detergent cleaner or a caustic soda solution. After rinsing well, apply a sealer coat of FLOWBOND diluted with an equal part of water and allow to dry to a clear film. A normal topping mix may be trowelled on now in the usual manner. However, for a top grade job, free from cracking and possessing all the advantages mentioned, we recommend that the topping mix be gauged with FLOWBOND diluted with water as per the following typical formulation: 3 parts washed sand to be mixed with 1 part fresh cement and made into a suitable consistency by adding FLOWBOND diluted with 2 parts water. Use FLOWBOND/ water mixture as a trowel lubricant.

It is recommended that the floor be trowelled lightly to a smooth finish without the "fines" being raised to the surface. The thickness of the topping for average use need only by 6mm. Industrial floors likely to be subjected to a very heavy traffic may require a topping of 12mm thickness. If the base of the sub-floor is wood a 12mm layer is recommended, however, this procedure is for suspended wooden floors.

LEVELING FLOORS:

Contractors find it is often necessary to level floors before laying vinyl, lino, cork parquet tiles and rubber. The procedure is substantially the same as for FLOWBOND/ cement floor toppings. A cement Fondu accelerated mixture which will set in approximately 2 hours can be made up as follows:-
1 part cement fondu
1 part Portland cement
6 parts sand
Mix to a suitable consistency with FLOWBOND diluted with two parts water. Where the underlay is to be feather-edged, the gauging liquid should be made up with FLOWBOND diluted with an equal part of water.

REPAIRING BROKEN CEMENT AND CONCRETE WITH FLOWBOND:

 Apply a sealer coat of FLOWBOND diluted with an equal part of water to the break or hole and allow to dry to a clear film. Reform the original shape with a mixture of 3 parts sand and 1 part cement made to a trowellable consistency with FLOWBOND diluted with an equal part of water.

TILING WITH THE AID OF FLOWBOND:

Ceramic tiles laid with FLOWBOND/ cement mixture have increased adhesion to the tile and base surface. Also the mortar itself is more resilient and stronger than conventional mortar. A suitable mixture can be made up as follows: 3 parts sand, 1 part cement - made to a suitable consistency with FLOWBOND diluted with an equal part of water.
Both the back of the tile and the base should first be primed with the same FLOWBOND/ water mixture and allowed to dry.
