DESCRIPTION:
GUARDSEAL is a combination of medium to
hard thermoplastic copolymer resins formulated with a special blend of
aromatic solvents. GUARDSEAL is fast drying, has excellent resistance to
water, alkalis, mild chemicals, rubber migration and excellent weathering
and UV resistance.
GUARD-SEAL is available in clear or
coloured finishes in both GUARDSEAL (standard) and GUARDSEAL P.G/
(penetrating grade) grades.
PURPOSE:
To provide an economical, hard wearing
surface finish to new or old, plain or coloured concrete and masonry
surfaces.
To penetrate and seal the surface to prevent dusting, resist staining,
reduce corrosion and generally enhance the surface appearance. The faster
than normal drying characteristics of GUARDSEAL allow treated surfaces to
be used earlier.
TYPICAL USES:
FLOORS: CAR PARK FLOORS, GARAGE WORKSHOPS,
WAREHOUSE AND SHOWROOM FLOORS, STORAGE DEPOT, CONCRETE PAVERS, FOOD
PROCESSING AREAS, DRIVEWAYS, ETC.
WALLS: To protect plain or painted surfaces
from grease, oils, fats, inks and many other substances. To waterproof
concrete or masonry walls against wind driven rain.
BENEFITS:
ONE PART, READY TO USE, FAST DRYING, HARD
WEARING, EASE OF APPLICATION, LONG WEARING, EXCELLENT RECOATABILITY,
EXCELLENT WEATHER AND UV RESISTANCE, RESTORES COLOUR TO FADED SURFACES,
RESISTS STAINING, MAKES SURFACES EASIER TO CLEAN AND LESS EXPENSIVE TO
MAINTAIN.
LIMITATIONS:
Not recommended for use over surfaces which
have been subjected to waxes, polishes or grease without proper
pre-treatment. Smooth or non-absorbent concrete surfaces will create a
slippery floor and should be acid etched and dried prior to application.
Alternatively the application of UNI-GRIT in a three coat GUARDSEAL
application will provide a non-slip finish. Do not apply GUARDSEAL to wet
or damp surfaces or surfaces subject to rising damp.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Area to be treated must be clean, dry and
free form oil, grease and other contaminants. Surfaces cured with curing
compounds other than CURE-CRETE.A., or the equivalent, are generally non
compatible with surface finishes and must be removed prior to application
of the sealer.
APPLICATION:
GUARD-SEAL can be applied by brush, roller
or low pressure spray. Airless spray applications should be at minimal
pressure to avoid cob-webbing, the effective coverage of GUARDSEAL is
greatly dependent upon the application technique and surface porosity. On
sound clean concrete GUARDSEAL should be applied at a minimum rate of 4mē
per litre. Thinning of GUARDSEAL is not permissible.
WALLS: Apply two coats of GUARDSEAL at the
rate of 8mē per litre per coat. FLOORS: Application by brush or roller
will require a two coat treatment to ensure the correct coverage of 4mē
per litre is achieved. Application over plain, uncoloured concrete by
spray can be achieved in one coat, dependent on porosity.
COLOURED AND DENSE CONCRETE: Apply two
coats of GUARDSEAL P.G/ at the rate of 6mē per litre per coat. SERVICE
FLOORS: Workshop type applications will require the application of one
coat of GUARDSEAL P.G. at the rate of 6mē per litre followed by one coat
of GUARDSEAL (standard) at the rate of 8mē per litre.
PRECAUTIONS:
GUARDSEAL is highly flammable, keep
containers closed when not in use, keep away from heat, sparks or open
flame. Adequate ventilation must be provided.
SHIPPING IDENTIFICATION:
Resin solution in flammable liquid. Group
3. UN No 1866 - HAZCHEM 3YE.
FIRST AID:
If affected by vapour, remove from
contaminated area. If splashed in eyes, flush with water immediately until
irritation subsides. If swallowed do not induce vomiting, give plenty of
water or milk. Seek medical attention.
PACKAGING:
GUARDSEAL Clear is available in sealed
4Ltr, 20Ltr and 200Ltr drums. Coloured GUARDSEAL is only available in 4Ltr
and 20Ltr drums.
