DESCRIPTION:

BITU-COAT is a single part cold applied, high build water based bitumen compound. Formulated specially as a safe, easy to use economical waterproofing barrier and anticorrosion coating.

PURPOSE:

For the protection of concrete, masonry, steel and wooden structures. Particularly suitable for buried, immersed or wet conditions. BITU-COAT may be painted with water based acrylic paints.

TYPICAL USES:

Waterproofing:- Retaining Walls, Planter Boxes, Pond Lining, Tanking.
Corrosion Control:- Galvanised Steel Culverts, Steel Tunnel and Tank Lining, Cast Iron Pipes, Steel Piping.
Sound Deadening:- Soil Stabilization - Tree Pruning - Tree Surgery.

ADVANTAGES:

Tolerant to damp or green concrete. Water based - Non Toxic - Odour Free - Quick drying. Ease of application- may be applied by brush, roller or spray can be mixed with sand or cement to provide extra strength may be painted with water based acrylic paint. Good chemical resistance- Minimum 20 years life expectancy.

LIMITATIONS:

Poor solvent resistance. Do not apply in wet conditions or if rain is imminent.

PREPARATION:

Surface must be clean and free from contaminations such as oil and grease Clean off any loose particles. Remove any standing water.

APPLICATION:

Prime the surface with a 1:1 mixture of BITU-COAT and clean water. Apply BITU-COAT direct from the can using Brush, Roller or Spray unit. Two coats are recommended, each having an average thickness of 1mm, allow 24 hours between coats.

BELOW GROUND TANKING:

(Using fabric reinforced Multi-layer system) Apply primer as described above, followed by a base coat of BITU-COAT at the rate of 1m2 per litre. Whilst wet, apply a layer of A;C Reo-Fab, reinforcing fabric embedded into the base coat, allow to dry before the application of the top coat. Top coat, apply BITU-COAT at the rate of 1m2 per litre.

PACKAGING:

BITU-COAT is supplied in 4ltr, 20ltr and 200ltr.

CLEAN UP:

All tools and equipment should be cleaned up immediately after use with water.
